Image one- close up focus of a sheet of paper with writing on it. Image 2- focus on subject containing many fine details. Image 3- Little contrast between the subject and the background. Image 4- chain was swinging from side to side. Used AI-servo focus to capture. Image 5- Image was captured in live mode on the camera.  

I edited the white balance in this image by bringing down the tint a lot towards the blue end to counteract the warmth. I edited the white balance in this image by bringing the tint more towards the neutral in order to remove the amount of blue toning in the image to give a perfect white balance. For this image I used the manual white balance from the image of the white sheet of paper                                      For this image I used the tungsten white balance.  I watched two videos on photographic style for the lecture this week. I have realised it is important to have your own photographic style in order to be a good professional photographer. In the video, Sean Tucker discusses a story about when he was doing some photography with friends at a protest and how he felt out of place and came home with no good images, while his other friend got some great shots. (Tucker, 2019)   What I have learned from this is that it's important to stick to a style that you know and are good at. It is also important to step out of your comfort zone and try lots of new things in order to find your true photographic style. Studying other photographers work to see what sort of styles you like can also help mould your own photographic style. In the second video about creating a photographic style, I learned about the importance of having a similar aesthetic and editing style in your portfolio.  Image one: I have chosen this image for leading lines. I like how they lead into the distance towards the college. Image two:  I have chosen this image for an image of colour. It also has some horizontal lines  Image 3: I have chosen this as a golden rule image. There is some negative space to the left and the bars draw your eye to the bike. Image 4; I have chosen this image for balance. It is a symmetrical image. Image 5: I have chosen this image for negative spacing. It is very minimal and there is a lot of empty space in the background. Image 6: I like this image as it has leading lines that run into horizontal lines in the distance.

                                Image- Julia Diament      The photographer I have chosen to write about in my blog is Julia Diament, a photographer who was from a small Jewish town in Poland. There is not a lot of colour in Julia’s images. As she was a photographer in the early to mid 20th century, her images are in black and white. Julia took photographs during the war and her photos are quite dark and emotional. The use of black and white suits the mood of the war era.

 My aim for this photo essay is to capture images of Dublin City that shows our history, culture and what the people are like.
