product shot proposal- studio photography

Product Shot Assignment Proposal Who is my client or company? The company I will be representing for my assignment is Chanel. I chose this brand because I like their fragrance products and it is a classy and simple brand. What is the product? The product that I will be shooting is a Bleu De Chanel Aftershave bottle. I chose this one as it is a dark bottle and will therefore be more challenging. What is the target audience? My target audience will be men of all ages who are interested in fragrances. This is a men’s fragrance, but the ad could also be targeted towards women buying gifts. Where would you expect to see this advertisement? You would expect to see this ad on a billboard, in a magazine, or at a bus stop. What kind of lighting are you going to use? My plan is to have one front facing light and another light behind the product. The behind light will be slightly at an angle to the product, as will the front light. I aim to use coloured foil over one of the

proposal-image manipulation assignment

Image Manipulation Assignment Proposal/Research Document Image manipulation is the process of modifying images and has been around as long as photography itself. Image manipulation can bring photos to life and give them a whole new meaning as you can just about do anything in Photoshop.   An idea I have for my manipulation project is going to be one image made from a few different images. I plan on making a collage with the images to form one image. The location I plan on shooting my images at, is Poolbeg lighthouse. I chose this location because I enjoy going there and I already have taken images at the location before, which will help me visualise what I’m going to do for my project. I plan to take many images in order to have a lot to choose from. I don’t intend to do much editing to the images separately, however when combined to make one image, I believe that it will look cool. I plan on setting up a tripod a certain distance away from the lighthouse. I am going to use m

Image 1- Tim Hawley. I really like this image because of it’s simplicity and sharp detailing of the watch. As there is a glass face on the watch, having watched the lecture I imagine the lights were placed either behind or to the side of the watch in order to not cause a reflection. As you can see on each side of the watch it is illuminated. The photographer also didn’t put the whole watch in the frame but focused on the face instead which is possibly an approach I will take if I am to shoot a watch because the main thing that draws people to a watch is the face. Image 2- Timothy Hogan. I really like this image as there are a number of fragrances all from the one brand. This is a concept I may look into using as I could do a brand advertisement rather than just a one fragrance advertisement. This image is not overly lit and it appears that the light is shining through the side of the bottles. I also believe there was some sort of filter paper used here to alter the colour as not all of

This image was shot using both soft box lights and camera settings of Shutter speed 1/200, f/14 and ISO 100. I feel this image could’ve been a bit brighter. For this image I used both soft boxes one with a blue filter and one with a pink filter. I like the effect it had on the watch and the surface. I used 1/200, f/11 and ISO 100. I used a light cone for this image in order to focus the light onto the watch. I feel that this gave a nice effect as the background is still relatively dark. I used the same settings for this image as I did for the second image.
