Lecture 8- photography style
I watched two videos on photographic style for the lecture this week. I have realised it is important to have your own photographic style in order to be a good professional photographer. In the video, Sean Tucker discusses a story about when he was doing some photography with friends at a protest and how he felt out of place and came home with no good images, while his other friend got some great shots.(Tucker, 2019)
What I have learned from this is that it's important to stick to a style that you know and are good at. It is also important to step out of your comfort zone and try lots of new things in order to find your true photographic style. Studying other photographers work to see what sort of styles you like can also help mould your own photographic style.
In the second video about creating a photographic style, I learned about the importance of having a similar aesthetic and editing style in your portfolio. If you look through a professional photographers Instagram, most of the photos will have the same tones and mood to them. (Tucker, 2017)
